Northern California’s only Jewish newspaper has a rare opening for a full-time staff reporter. But we don’t want just any reporter, we want a good writer. We want someone who can turn a phrase and keep the reader’s interest until the end of the story. If your writing is compelling, crisp and colorful, we’d like to hear from you.

But we only hire writers who have worked professionally at a newspaper or magazine and can send us clips of their work. Please do not apply unless you meet this VERY important criteria.

The successful applicant is someone with Jewish knowledge and a passion about covering the Jewish community. If you feel you meet this criteria, please explain why in your cover letter.

Lastly we only want to hire someone who is currently living in the Bay Area. We need you in our S.F. office, not telecommuting.

The reporter’s position is full time with health insurance, vision coverage, optional dental coverage, pension, etc.

If you meet our criteria, send us:

1. Several clips that demonstrate you can write features, news and expanded magazine pieces.

2. A resume.

3. A cover letter telling us why you want to write for a Jewish publication and what your Jewish knowledge is.

4. Your salary requirements

Not incidentally, we’re always in the market for a few extraordinary freelancers —— writers who can weave moods and situations that will intrigue readers and photographers whose pictures say 1000 words.

We are only accepting e-mails. So please send your clips, resume and letter to: Jobs@jweekly.
