Happy Thanksgiving from Oy Bay

Turkey Kosher Thanksgiving

A few things:

  • In case you thought you were living in sin, turkey is kosher!
  • Leading Rabbis deem Thanksgiving to be a ‘kosher’ holiday, as long as you don’t ritualize it or make it mandatory.
  • I attended the “Turkey Bowl” again this year. This is where the alumni and current members of two South Bay AZA chapters come and play a game of football Thanksgiving Day morning (pictures coming soon!).
  • Second only to the US, Israel is the largest (per-capita?) consumer of turkey meat in the world. “According to the National Turkey Federation, Israel leads the world in turkey consumption. At a whopping 26.9 pounds per capita in 1996, Israelis consumed about 45% more than Americas, who are the world’s number two consumers.” That’s a lot of shwarma!

Happy Thanksgiving, from all of us at Oy Bay. 🙂

I’m soooooo not fit for being an Orthodox rabbi. My brain is dizzy from reading that article explaining why turkey is kosher…

When you’re a vegetarian, it’s all kosher! Which can strip Thanksgiving of its coolness.

Silly J-Lifer, everyone knows that the coolness of Thanksgiving is in the stuffing! 🙂

I always waondered what the heck are we doing with all the LUF!

    Ron, I LUF you! :-p

Seriously, though. Eating Thanksgiving left-overs long after Turkey Day has flown the coop is a veritable and time-honored American tradition, second only to luge-lessons whilst wearing meat-helmets.
