Israel in the Gardens 2007 and After Party

Posted by challahbackgirl on May 22, 2007

If you’ve been raised in the Oy-Bay Area you’re sure to know of the big community wide Birthday Bash for Israel–Israel in the Gardens. And you’re sure to find me there again this year. According to their online headquarters:

Rite to Perform at Israel in the Gardens, SF 2007

More than 15,000 people unite once a year to rejoice and commemorate Israel’s Independence. It’s an opportunity to show our solidarity and publicly recognize members in our community for their extraordinary commitment to Israel and their efforts in strengthening Israel – Bay Area relations.

This year we’re going green:
We are particularly excited that this year’s theme emphasizes a matter universally resonant with Americans, Jews and Israelis – “Green.” In our traditional values to repair the world (tikkun olam), we invite you and organizations to join in our energy conservation efforts. There will be informational booths highlighting the alternative energy plans of US and Israeli companies and a walk-a-thon, “Walk-a-mile for Israel,” to help sponsor global environmental preservation work.

Yerba Buena Gardens, SF is the place to be on Sunday, June 3rd. It’s a FREE (thanks to many sponsors) festival for all ages, live performances all day on the main stage, including a headline performance by Israeli singer Rita, theater shows, tables of community, dance contest for teens, crafts for kids, freshly made ethnic foods (these have a charge); mini film festival and shop for everything from jewelry to handmade clothing from dozens of local artisan craft booths. Not to mention seeing all your friends you’ll be running into all day.

For us Young Adults the festivities continue with an After Party on the 4th floor of the Metreon–what a view. Thanks to Tzavta, the Young Adults Club of the Israel Center for hosting this party each year. Here’s the details:

Isreal in the Gardens After Party

Within steps from the festival, it just makes sense to have the festivities continue with delicious food, drinks, and of course, hip music beats.
