Teapacks coming to town!

Teapacks groupshot 440

This was snarfed from the Israel Center. Ed.

Who are they?

Teapacks’ unique sound, best described as a Middle Eastern-rock fusion, has brought the band to the top of the charts in Israel several times over the past two decades. The band originated in thhe Qasam bombarded Sderot in the Negev. Teapacks and its leader, Kobi Oz, have made the authentic voice of the Mizrahi periphery heard, and fused it with authentic social-political protest and hip rock-pop. Recently, Teapacks gained massive international publicity for its controversial Eurovision Song Contest entry, “Push the Button,” which was covered by The New York Times and CNN.
To see it:

What I thought was funny, is that “Tipeks” in Hebrew means white-out, like what you would use to white out pen marks. In their English translation it’s Packs of Tea (?!?)

Pre-concert Listening Party
An exciting listening party presented by Tzavta, and The Hub the Israel Center’s and JCCSF’s Young Adult Divisions, featuring music videos, rare audio tracks, translations and discussions of the band’s controversial lyrics will be held preceding the event. Discounted concert tickets and CDs for party attendees.
