How Terrorism is Impacting our Countries

Tuesday, Nov. 6th 7:00 to 9:00 PM

A panel of Consul Generals from around the world, including India and Israel, will address how terrorism is impacting each of their countries and present strategies on counter terrorism. Refreshments will be served.

How SJSU is prepared for terrorism?

Wednesday, Nov. 7th Noon to 1:30 PM

The Campus Emergency Response Team at SJSU will explain what terrorism is and how SJSU First Responders are prepared to defend the campus community.

Fighting the Ideology of Terrorism with Judea Pearl

Wednesday, Nov. 7th Reception from 5:00 to 6:00 PM – Lecture from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Judea Pearl father of Daniel Pearl  the Wall Street Times journalist was brutally murdered in 2002 by terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan, will address the issue of fighting the ideology of Terrorism. A reception will precede the lecture. Judea Pearl is the guest speaker for the Robert E. Levinson Memorial Lecture.

Pups for Peace: Detecting Terror before it Strikes

Tuesday, Nov. 13th 3:00 – 5:00 PM

Santa Clara County Sheriff Officer Mike Saliba and Laura Young of Pups for Peace will discuss why Santa Clara County needed two explosive detection dogs and what goes into making a Pup for Peace.

How the Muslim Community Has Been Impacted by Global Terrorism

Tuesday, Nov. 13th Reception from 5:00 to 6:00 PM – Lecture from 6:00 to 8:00 PM

Prof. Khaleel Mohamed, of San Diego State University and a core member of San Diego State’s Center for Islamic Studies, will discuss the impact of Global Terrorism on the Islamic world. A reception will precede the lecture.

Wednesday, Nov. 14th 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Dr. Todd Zalut, Chief of the ER Department of Sharee Tzedek First Responder Hospital in Jerusalem for Terrorist Attacks, via satellite from Israel, will explain how first responders react when a terrorist attacks occur.

Thursday, Nov. 15th 12:00 – 1:15 PM

A panel of SJSU professors will discuss political solutions for the war on terror, the morality of terror, and civil liberties in a Q&A session. Come find out the answers to your questions about terrorism.

Terrorism & Human Rights

Thursday, Nov. 15th 3:00 – 5:00 PM

Dr. Amos Guiora, an expert in the field of Counter-Terrorism, will close the week with a discussion on the legal aspects of counter-terrorism and respect for human rights under the rule of international law.

Passenger number 17

A moving documentary about the search for the identity of Passenger 17, a victim of a terrorist attack on a public bus. There will be two showings:

       Wednesday, Nov. 7th at the MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center all day long.

       Tuesday, Nov. 15th at the Hillel of Silicon Valley house from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
