Young & Jewish: (Dis)Connected?
Posted by Oyster on November 8, 2007
TONIGHT! Thursday, November 8, 7:30 pm
Heald College, 350 Mission St (btwn. 1st and Beale), San Francisco
As young adult Jews, how and why do we connect to, or disengage from, Jewish life? Is it even something we choose? What does it have to offer us… and what can we bring to it?
To start off our discussion, we’ll hear from [UC Davis] Professor Ari Y. Kelman, co-author of two 2 landmark studies: Cultural Events & Jewish Identity: Young Adult Jews in New York (2005) and Beyond Distancing: Young Adult American Jews and Their Alienation from Israel (2007). Panel discussion to follow featuring: Joey Kurtzman, editor of Jewcy.com; Sarah Leiber Church [Not to be confused with the Stanford physicist -Ed.], Program Director, PJA; Heidi Winig, Program Officer, American Jewish World Service & AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps; Jeremy Lizt, member of the New Israel Fund New Generations Board of Directors.
Admission is FREE – but RSVPs are GREATLY appreciated!

Editor’s note: Could spiffy, hip Judaica solve everything? I’m not sure, but I am sure of one thing: Sarah’s uber-cool! We’ve known each other since high school. You should go just for the sake of getting to bask in the glow of her awesomeness.
