Oy Bay Contest: Get ‘bound’ in wholly ‘Matrimony’
Posted by Oyster on September 8, 2008
Oy Bay, ever the trend-setter, was first on the beat with the news of the debut of a fantastic novel by Joshua Henkin (check out Chutzpaleh’s top-notch interview, ‘cuz there ain’t none top-notchier). The brother of a prominent member of the Mission Minyan, and the scion of an illustrious rabbinic line, Joshua could now rest on his laurels at this point and be content, and while away his time blogging or something. But this is not so, fair readers! Joshua desires to whet your appetite with a freebie offer. That’s right! You can win an all-expenses-paid free copy of ‘Matrimony’! Did I not note that it was a New York Times Notable? Gnarly! Consider your bookish-wormish appetite slaked.
What do you mean that you haven’t heard of ‘Matrimony’? *sigh* Okay, here’s a teaser:
It is 1987, and Julian Wainwright, aspiring writer and Waspy son of New York City old money, meets beautiful, Jewish Mia Mendelsohn in the laundry room at Graymont College. So begins a love affair that, spurred on by family tragedy, will take Julian and Mia across the country and back, through several college towns, spanning twenty years.
And check out the video below for more of a background, and a video interview with Joshua (please note: due to Frummy considerations, we have secretly substituted your usual Chutzpaleh with this broad).
Oh yeah, the contest details. Duh! Okay, so here goes: the first person to send our Oy Bay Facebook account a message with the ‘handle’ of the first person to write for Oy Bay after Oyster, gets a personally signed kiwi copy of ‘Matrimony’!
All-righty! Now hop to it! 🙂
